
Rammang-Rammang & Leang-Leang Tour
1 DAY TOUR ITINERARY
Explore the second larget karst in the world by a motorized boat. First we will visit Berua village. This beautiful village with rice fields and fish ponds is surrounded by tower karsts. After that we will visit Kunang-kunang cave that has beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. Then we continue to Kampung Laku stone forest that looks similar with Shilin Yi stone forest in Yunnan Province, China. Before going back to Makassar, we will visit a cave with hand stencils and animal paintings that was found in 1950 by Dutch archeologists, H.R. van Heekeren and Miss Heeren Palm.

DAY 1 – A
Berua Village
You will be met by your English speaking driver at your hotel in Makassar or Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport to drive you to Rammang-rammang. From the pier, the tour will continue by a motorized boat to Berua village. This village is stunningly beautiful because it’s surrounded by karsts tower. Around 75 villagers live in traditional houses on stilts in this village. They live from farming, fishing, and as boatmen.

DAY 1 – B
Kunang-Kunang Cave
After that we will walk around 1 hour from dock 2 to Kunang-kunang cave and back to dock 2. Kunang-kunang cave has stalactites, stalagmites, and columns that needed million years to be formed. These limestone formations blink like fireflies when they are hit by lights.

DAY 1 – C
Stone Forest
Then we will visit stone forest. This area is full with pinnacle karsts with various sizes and shapes. In some areas it’s created labyrinths. This stone forest is similar with the one in Shilin Yi, China.

DAY 1 – D
Leang-Leang Cave
Last place to visit is Leang-leang. Here you can see hands stencils and animal paintings that are estimated around 5000 years old. There is also an information room to see photos of paintings, hand stencils, and fosil replica from some caves around Bantimurung Bulusaraung national park. Then back to hotel in Makassar.
