4 Days Toraja Tour from Makassar: Stone Grave to Toraja Funerals

Meet the Torajans, indigenous tribe in the northern part of South Sulawesi that still practice the old belief.
Tana Toraja which lies in South Sulawesi known for its unique culture. From funeral ceremonies, ancient graves, Tongkonan houses, and Toraja handicrafts. You’ll be picked up from Sultan Hasanuddin airport or your hotel in Makassar at 8 AM. Visit Kete Kesu, and Pallawa Village to get a glimpse of Tongkonan houses – a traditional house of Toraja people. For sure you will visit the famous burial sites such as Lemo stone grave that is iconic with the effigies or tau-tau, Kote baby grave, and Tampangallo cave grave . 4 Days 3 Nights Toraja Itinerary:
Day 1
Upon arrival at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport or from your hotel in Makassar, you will be picked up by your private driver. Then we will directly depart to Tana Toraja with approx. 9 hours drive passing through the Buginese villages with their typical houses on stilts. We will stop for lunch in Pare-Pare. Stop also will be made for having coffee break while enjoy the spectacular view of Mt. Kabobong or erotic mountain. Late in afternoon, arrive at the hotel in Rantepao, Tana Toraja.
Day 2
After breakfast, we will take you on a full day Toraja tour. First, we will visit Lemo where we can find stone graves with their rows of Tau-Tau or wooden effigies. Then we will visit baby graves in the living tree in Kote. After that we will have lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch we will go to Tampangallo, an ancient and a natural cave grave. At last we will visit Kete’ Kesu, a beautiful local Torajan village where we can see old Tongkonan houses with rice barns and ancient hanging graves on the cliff-side. Then we back to the Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3
After breakfast, we will drive you to Bolu market where you can see livestock and traditional market. After that we will visit Batutumonga, which is best known for its spectacular view of rice terraces then have lunch in a local restaurant with the view of Rantepao town from above. After lunch you can walk along the rice terraces and some villages to see the daily life of Torajan people. In the afternoon, visiting megalithic stone, before heading back to hotel for dinner and stay overnight.
Day 4
Heading back to Makassar, after having breakfast at hotel. With the same route, stop by for lunch at a local restaurant in Pare Pare. After lunch, then we continue to Sultan Hasanuddin Airport for your flight.
